~ A big thank you to everyone who assisted in the set-up for the Agape meal following the
Paschal Liturgy, those who stayed around to cleanup and those who brought dishes an d opened their baskets up to share. As usual, it was a great celebration and not a bad party for 4AM!
~ Our 3rd annual Beer and Brats night on Bright Friday evening was another huge success. What looked like the beginnings
of a bad weather night turned around and we could take our tables, chairs, and fellowship outside on the lawn. There were several brewmeisters with their beverages, some samplings of local brewery beers, and a fun egg hunt for the children.
~ Our Mother’s Day brunch was a wonderful time and the men of the parish were able to spoil our moms, grandmoms, and spiritual moms a little bit. The men cooked...
~ Graduation weekend at the University of Virginia provided an opportunity for the parish to honor our high school and college graduates. Those in attendance at the Saturday vespers enjoyed an hors d’oeuvres reception...
~ With the upcoming summer months, many of us will be traveling and away from our home parish. Don’t forget to look at the coffee hour sheet on the bulletin board in the social hall and sign up for a weekend. One thing we can count on is that if we are traveling away from St. Nicholas, there will always be people traveling to us.
~ Keep a look out for something special at the end of July - Movie Night - which promises to be a fun family event. We are going to have an outdoor movie, complete with popcorn and movie snacks.

The Hospitality Service Group of St. Nicholas provides a welcoming atmosphere to our parish members and guests.  We provide a simple meal during Coffee Hour after the Sunday church service which is a wonderful time to socialize.  As a parish, we value the time we can spend together in fellowship, so our Hospitality Group plans social events and helps coordinate with other service groups when food/help is needed.  We foster fellowship in the parish community by stocking our kitchen with foods and supplies for Coffee Hour and fellowship programs and coordinating volunteers to help staff these events.

To foster this spirit beyond the Sunday coffee hour, we sponsor a  Lenten meal weekly, following the Liturgy of Presanctified Gifts.  Our parish has become really good at 'potluck' affairs, where the creativity of individuals comes together in a sumptuous meal that our Service Group coordinates.   Whenever our parish gathers for a Work Party, Hospitality is there to feed the hungry workers!   We've recently added a coffee station in the North wing for meetings that take place in that part of the facility.

We gather to meet and plan for these events, such as our annual Church Picnic, a special Evening-Out for parents, and Wine and Cheese tastings after Saturday vespers.  In addition, we help to provide meals in support of special parish events like parish retreats, OCF outings,  baby/bridal showers and a variety of other affairs.  In past years, we have also participated in the Charlottesville Holiday Market, offered a holiday Cookie Festival and a 'Feast from the East' outreach event .  Annually in December, our parish holds its St. Nicholas celebration with a special fellowship meal.

We encourage our visitors to please stay after the service and meet some of our church family.  Check the website calendar for upcoming special hospitality events. We would love to get to know you!
